"Renders" are the latest avenue for people either too lazy or too talentless to produce their own shit.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, I don't blame you. I always considered rendering to be drawing a picture, or adding texture to something, or maybe even outputting 3D CG. But no, it's apparently neither of these things. It is in fact:

Cutting shit out.

Yeah, chutting shit out. You remember when you got a sticker sheet when you were a kid, but it wasn't scored, so you just set about it with a pair of scissors? "Rendering" is this, only digitally (ie, magic wand, lasso selection etc, hoo boy).

Now this is fine. There's nothing wrong with cutting images out for later use. However, it starts getting "lol internet" when said "renderers" start complaining about people not giving them "credit" for their "renders".

Because of course, if you use some art in a sig, or a wallpaper or something, you should TOTALLY credit the fool who spent 15mins cutting it out in Photoshop, rather than the person who actually drew it. I mean come on, credit the artist? That's just crazy talk!

PS: Before anyone decides to bitch about "rendering" being a complex art form or some shit, bear in mind:

Just about every CG artist you talk to can "render", but they can also produce their own work too.

In summary: Fine, do your crappy "renders" and give them a stupid name. Use them for fun design projects and wallpapers. That's all well and good. But please, don't expect people to "OMFG CREDIT PLZ!" you for using SOMEONE ELSE'S image that you just happened to cut out. Sorry, "render".
