Neat! I do the same thing by making the image Greyscale, selecting the Channel, inverting the selection and filling with black on a new Layer. Same result by two totally different methods, which goes to show how damn versatile Photoshop can be, I suppose.

This is a great alternative to just setting the lineart to 'multiply', and I suspect it will be far better for such treatments as colour-holds & glows. Excellent! Now I just have to try to memorise the process ...
